National Coronavirus Epidemic

Due to a number of staff having to self isolate as a result of the National Coronavirus epidemic, Assure Building Control are having to implement some temporary inspection procedures. These will hopefully last only for a week or two, and we hope that you are able to allow some flexibility during this period.
We will be attending all excavation inspections as usual; however, it may be the case that our surveyors will be travelling further to visit your site. Please do make sure that you:
1. Give as much notice as possible (tel 0191 482 0555 or email
2. Don't order concrete until the inspection is complete.
Other inspections
We will carry out as many inspections as is possible. However, surveyors are likely to be travelling further, with potentially higher workloads than usual. As such we would ask that you let us know as soon as possible if access is unavailable, or if progress has not been made since the previous visit.
Remote Inspections
If you need to carry out work to enclose or cover structural elements and we are unable to attend, this must be properly managed. You MUST arrange this with your surveyor and send clear photographs to the surveyor (copy in who will review the photographs and will advise on the best action. It may be that we:
  • Arrange for a different surveyor to visit
  • Ask for further evidence
  • Offer advise on further work/information required
All of this MUST be in writing via email and before elements of construction are enclosed / covered over.
Please remember that it remains your responsibility to comply with Building Regulations, and where we do not have sufficient evidence of compliance, we will not be able to issue a Final Certificate.

Involving us early in the process allows us to make ourselves available for consultation at any stage with no obligation, providing timely, constructive advice, offering alternative solutions when necessary and ultimately removing risk resulting in capital cost reductions.

We work at your pace and to your timetable, providing rational, relevant and timely feedback, sensible code interpretation and crucially, a single dedicated point of contact.
